Program Guide Cover Designs

Situation

I’ve had the privilege of designing for the MPT (Maryland Public Television) program guide. I designed covers and inside feature pages for five issues, each with a distinct theme. I also support the art production of the guide each month, with a monthly circulation of 55,000 guides.

Solutions

Season seven of Call the Midwife transitions into the early 1960’s; I created a midcentury modern-inspired style that showcased the cast of characters.

For the Poldark artwork, I took inspiration from the moody setting in the Cornish port. I also incorporated historic maps of England to embrace the historic drama of the show.

For the Downton Abbey artwork, I took cues from the period drama and incorporated scroll artwork and a damask pattern to set the tone for the show.

For the special issue to celebrate Chesapeake Bay Week, I paired handlettering with the show-stopping photography. This issue won a Communicator Award, winning Silver in the Non-Profit Marketing & Promotion category.

A lineup of Broadway shows called for a show-stopping homage to live theatre.
