AAF Baltimore 2020 Addys

As part of the AAFB’s 2020 American Advertising Awards (Addys) committee, my team developed copy and designs that encouraged our colleagues to tumble down the rabbit hole, and join us in Wonderland as we celebrate the AAFB’s 100th anniversary.

As creatives, we work in a wonderland of sorts. We conceive all the possibilities, grow and shrink and adjust to make them possible, and then we work together to transform them into reality. And so, we proposed an Alice in Wonderland-themed event for the 2020 Addy Awards. One of the best-known and most popular works of English-language fiction, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, and was an endless source of inspiration for our team.

The key art (shown here first) designed by our Creative Director, Jeremy Martin, set the tone for the 3 months of social media posts, email communications, and the printed program book. The artwork from the emails were converted into animations for social media, developed by Jeremy Martin. To view the animations and my colleagues’ accompanying artwork, you can visit the AAF Baltimore’s Facebook page.

The program book was a labor of love, with contributions from our design team, including Jeremy Martin, Sylwia Surowiec, and Beth Varden. Displayed here are a sample of the designs I contributed to the program book; Beth Varden created the type design for these pages. The program was printed by Indigo Ink and featured an awesome iridescent foil on the cover.
